Become a Kiwanis Member

We want you to be a member of
our Missoula Kiwanis family!

Membership Information

When you join Kiwanis Club of Missoula, you become part of an international organization dedicated to improving the lives of children around the world and in our community. We are always looking for potential members who are interested in participating in the fellowship, fun and community service that our club offers. See below for answers to commonly asked questions about membership.

Why should I join Kiwanis?
By joining the Kiwanis Club of Missoula, you can:

  • Positively impact the Community
Our volunteer projects and funding programs have a direct impact on the quality of life in the Missoula community. Our primary focus is on serving children, and we support them through fundraisers like our pancake breakfast and event parking.

  • Make new friendships
We are a service club, not a networking group, but our weekly meetings and events provide opportunities to develop relationships with fellow Kiwanians. Our members have a wide variety of backgrounds, education and vocations.

  • Learn about local issues
Our weekly programs feature a variety of speakers that allow you to learn first-hand about local and national issues. Our program committee attracts some of the most knowledgeable speakers on a wide spectrum of topics.
  • Improve your leadership skills
We have numerous committees that administer the Club and its programs. Members are expected to actively serve on at least one committee, which provides opportunities for involvement and leadership. You may also pursue a seat on the board of directors, which oversees the Club’s operations and finances.

What organizations do you help?
We support these organizations on a regular basis:

  • Lowell School Student of the Month
  • Kiwanis Middle School Basketball Program
  • Two High School Key Clubs: Sentinel High School and Big Sky High School.
  • The University of Montana Circle K Club.
  • The local Aktion Club.
  • College scholarships for graduating Key Club Members and UM Circle K.
  • Athletic camp scholarships to selected Kiwanis Basketball Program players.
  • Scholarships to 4H participants

In addition, we support nonprofit organizations focused on helping children in our community, such as Missoula YWCA, Zootown Arts Community Center, the Child Development Center, Families First and Children’s Museum, Missoula Butterfly House and Insectarium, Child Care Resources, Parenting Place, and the Watson Children’s Center.

We have also supported the All-Abilities Playground, the Montana Natural History Center’s outdoor garden, Habitat for Humanity and Kiwanis Park improvements through both financial donations and volunteer labor.

When/where do you meet?
We meet every Tuesday at noon in the Governor’s Room of the Florence Building. Meetings last one hour and include a catered lunch along with a presentation. While you contemplate joining our club, we will pick up your lunch tab three times so that you have an opportunity to meet our members and learn about us.

What are expectations for your members?
Members are required to pay annual dues and are expected to serve as an active member of a committee along with participating in club fundraising and volunteer activities. See our member handbook for complete information about membership expectations.

How much does membership cost?
We offer two types of membership: An individual membership, which applies to one person, and corporate memberships that allow any representative of the organization to participate.

Individual and corporate memberships are $576 per year ($204 for dues and $372 for meals). Members may pay annually by check or through a monthly ETF bank withdrawal.

Scholarships and dues-only memberships are available on a case-by-case basis upon approval from the board of directors.

How do I join?
Complete a membership form and return in person to a lunch. You may attend three lunches at no charge to test us out and see if you want to continue. Your form will be reviewed and approved by our board. Once you are approved, you will pay your membership dues and will be initiated at a Club meeting.
