Kiwanis Basketball

Kiwanis basketball has had a long history in Missoula and has touched many lives.  Founded in 1944 by Dr. F. Gordon Reynolds and Dr. Jack R. Burgess, the program started as a cooperative venture of the Missoula Public Schools, the Missoula City Parks & Recreation Department, and the Kiwanis Club of Missoula.  Missoula Parks and Recreation is teaming up with Missoula Kiwanis for registration and scheduling and with the cooperation of the area schools the Kiwanis Club of Missoula continues to successfully operate the program

The goal of Kiwanis basketball is to give middle school boys and girls an opportunity to compete on the basketball court in an environment that is fun and promotes good sportsmanship.  It is a free program that is supported through the fundraising efforts of the Kiwanis Club of Missoula.  Each year the F. Gordon Reynolds Sportsmanship Award is awarded to the team from each division that exhibits the best sportsmanship.  The award is presented to the teams at the annual Kiwanis Basketball luncheon.
